Before Impending Prostate
Surgery; McDowell Wins at Smoky Mountain!
26, 2021) Shortly before announcing that he would be taking
a health hiatus due to upcoming prostate cancer surgery, Dale McDowell
captured his fourth feature win of the 2021 campaign in dominating
fashion on Saturday night, September 25 at Smoky Mountain Speedway
in Maryville, Tennessee. Dale, who is scheduled to miss at least
six weeks of racing action to heal up following Monday's surgery,
laid down the second quickest lap in Group A during Southern All
Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) qualifying before starting third
on the grid in the 50-lap main event. The Chickamauga, Georgia Hall
of Famer then grabbed the point on lap five of the feature from
fast qualifier Payton Freeman and led the remainder of the distance
to pocket the $7,500 paycheck over Freeman, Eli Beets, Zack Mitchell,

Week at Eldora; Lands on Podium in 51st World 100!
12, 2021) Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) made their annual
September pilgrimage to the famed Eldora Speedway from September
8-11 for not one, but two 'World 100s' at the storied Rossburg,
Ohio facility. The hectic week started with $10,000 to win Twin
25 prelim shows on Wednesday night for the 51st edition of the 'World
100.' Dale McDowell ran third in his heat race (in controversial
fashion after being penalized two spots for allegedly jumping the
start) and later wound up tenth in the final rundown of his 25-lap
sprint. On Thursday in the 'World 100,' Dale won his heat race,
led laps 59-71 of the 100-lap headliner, and eventually landed on
the podium in third behind only $54,000 victor Brandon Overton and
runner-up Tim McCreadie!
On Friday evening at the "Big E," two more
Twin 25 programs - each paying $10,000 to the winner - were held
for the 50th annual running of the 'World 100.' Dale won his heat
race before moving up three spots during the 25-lapper to place
a strong fifth behind only race winner Brandon Overton, Jimmy Owens,
Kyle Bronson, and Ricky Thornton, Jr. In Saturday's grand finale,
the Chickamauga, Georgia ace finished fifth in his stacked heat
race and later relied on a high point provisional to gain access
into the 100-lap crown jewel extravaganza. In front of a jammed-packed
grandstand crowd, "MacDaddy" blasted past twelve competitors
en route to a respectable seventh place performance in the $53,000
to win affair. Complete results from the long week at Eldora Speedway
