Leads Majority of Scorcher; Flat Tire Ruins Run
15, 2022) A midweek special event lured Shane McDowell
Racing (SMR) to the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap,
Tennessee on Wednesday night, September 14. The Valvoline Iron-Man
Late Model Series sanctioned the 15th Annual 'Scorcher' and 33 Super
Late Model competitors signed into the pit area to vie for the $12,000
winner's check. Dale McDowell stopped the clock second quickest
in Group A during the qualifying session prior to securing a popular
heat race victory.
After starting third on the grid in the 50-lap headliner,
Dale grabbed the point on the nineteenth circuit and led up until
he blew out a left rear tire on lap 46. The Dirt Late Model Hall
of Famer received attention from his crew and after bolting on a
new Hoosier tire, Dale was able to salvage a fifth place performance
behind only victor Cory Hedgecock, Michael Chilton, Scott Bloomquist,

100 Prelim at Eldora Speedway for $12,000!
11, 2022) Dale McDowell and his #17m team celebrated in
victory lane for the seventh time in 2022 on Friday night, September
9 in a preliminary show during the 52nd Annual 'World 100' at the
famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio! Dale earned Fast Time honors
in his group during the qualifying session before placing third
in his loaded heat race. During the course of his Twin 25, Dale
streaked from his ninth starting spot and drove past leader Josh
Rice to lead only the final two circuits. At the checkers, the Chickamauga,
Georgia star had bagged the $12,000 first place prize money ahead
of Rice, Chris Madden, Garrett Smith, and Brian Shirley!
In other action during the long week at the "Big
E," Dale drove to a strong sixth place performance on Wednesday
evening in the rain-postponed 'Dirt Late Model Dream,' which shelled
out a $128,000 paycheck. On Thursday in a $12,000 to win Twin 25
preliminary event for the 'World 100,' Dale unfortunately suffered
rear-end problems early in his heat race before climbing to fourth
in his B-Main, which narrowly kept him out of his 25-lapper. In
Saturday's $55,000 to win 'World 100,' the Dirt Late Model Hall
of Famer placed sixth in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and
eighth in the 100-lap headliner after rolling off from the inside

3, 2022) The Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) team invaded Smoky
Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Friday night, September
2. The World of Outlaws Case Construction Late Model Series presided
over the 'Smoky Mountain Showdown' and a $10,000 payday was up for
grabs. Dale McDowell stopped the clock seventh fastest overall during
the qualifying session before grabbing the third transfer spot through
his heat race. After starting the 40-lap feature from the inside
of the fourth row, Dale was unfortunately caught up in a multi-car
incident and later retired on the tenth circuit in the twenty-second

Podium Performance in Topless 100!
21, 2022) Dale McDowell and Shane McDowell Racing (SMR)
made the trek to Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas
on August 19-20 for the 30th Annual 'Topless 100,' which was once
again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The popular
roofless spectacular drew a 48 car field to BMS and the action kicked
off on Friday night with a $5,000 to win preliminary program. Dale
ran second in his loaded heat race prior to advancing up to seventh
in the 30-lap feature. When Saturday rolled around with a whopping
$50,000 first place prize on the line, Dale blasted all the way
up to the second spot late in the 100-lap crown jewel headliner
before settling for a third place podium effort behind only victor

14, 2022) Next up on the racing calendar for the #17M team
was a visit to Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky from August
11-13 for the 40th edition of the 'North/South 100.' A pair of preliminary
programs were planned to kick off the action at the Cincinnati-area
facility, but a rain-out on Thursday scrapped the first of two $5,000
to win events. On Friday evening, Dale McDowell timed in third fastest
in Group B during qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and later
moved past four competitors during his 25-lap sprint. At the checkers,
Dale was credited for an impressive runner-up performance behind
only prelim victor Jonathan Davenport!
A huge standing-room-only crowd was then on hand on
Saturday, as all eyes at the historic venue were solely set on who
would capture the whopping $75,000 winner's check in the 'North/South
100.' Dale won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled

$10,053 in Southern Nationals Finale!
31, 2022) Chickamauga, Georgia Hall of Famer Dale McDowell
captured his sixth feature win of the 2022 racing season on Saturday
night, July 30 at the bad-fast Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee!
After stopping the clock fourth quickest in Schaeffer's Oil Southern
Nationals Series time trials, Dale ran second in his heat race to
earn the outside of the second row for the 53-lap feature event.
The popular driver known as "MacDaddy" then took advantage
of leader Dakotah Knuckles’ misfortune with a lapped car to
inherit the point on the forty-first circuit. From there, Dale led
the rest of the way in the ‘Ray Varner Ford 53’ to bag
the $10,053 payday over a top five that included runner-up Mack
McCarter, Ricky Weiss, David Payne, and Forrest Trent! Complete

to I-80 Speedway & Boone Speedway
26, 2022) The Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) team ventured
west to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska and Boone Speedway
in Boone, Iowa from July 21-25 for several high-profile events.
On Thursday night in a $12,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series contest at I-80, Dale McDowell unfortunately just missed
out on the 50-lap feature after running fifth in his loaded heat
race and third in his B-Main. At I-80 on Friday evening in preliminary
action for the 'Silver Dollar Nationals,' Dale advanced to seventh
in his first heat race of the night, while he started and finished
second in his final prelim.
By virtue of earning the sixteenth most passing points
during preliminary action, the Chickamauga, Georgia ace rolled off
from the outside of the eighth row in the $53,000 to win headliner,
which was pushed back to Sunday night due to inclement weather.
Dale was unfortunately an early retiree in the 80-lap affair and
was ultimately paid for a thirtieth place performance. The hectic
stretch of racing was then capped off on Monday, July 25 with the
'Hawkeye 50' at Boone, which boasted a $20,000 payday. Dale was
not able to transfer into the World of Outlaws Case Construction
Late Model Series main event after placing seventh in his stacked

18, 2022) Following a sixth place showing in the $10,053
to win Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Series opener on Friday
at Beckley Motor Speedway in Mount Hope, West Virginia, Dale McDowell
and the SMR team turned up the wick on the competition with a pair
of victories to round out the tripleheader weekend. On Saturday
night at the sprawling Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia,
Dale timed in sixth fastest overall during qualifying before placing
third in his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the
fifth row in the 53-lap headliner, Dale drove to the front of the
field, took the lead on lap 37, and beat Cory Hedgecock, Michael
Brown, Vic Hill, and Camaron Marlar to the checkers to collect the

19, 2022) A visit to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville,
Tennessee was in store for the Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) team
on June 17-18, as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned
the annual running of the 'Mountain Moonshine Classic.' In his $5,000
to win prelim on Friday evening, Dale McDowell placed third in his
heat race prior to moving up three positions during the course of
the 30-lap feature en route to a strong third place podium effort
behind only victor Chris Madden and runner-up Mike Marlar. On Saturday
in the weekend finale, which boasted a hefty $50,000 top prize,
Dale finished fourth in his heat race, but was unfortunately an
early retiree in the 60-lapper and was relegated to a twenty-eighth

12, 2022) The lucrative 'Eldora Million' and 'Dirt Late
Model Dream' were next on the racing calendar for Dale McDowell,
as the #17m team trekked to the famed Eldora Speedway from June
8-11. Following a washout at the Rossburg, Ohio facility on Wednesday
night, the entire 'Eldora Million' program was contested on Thursday.
During the daytime $12,000 to win preliminary event, Dale unfortunately
suffered rear-end woes during his heat race and later blitzed to
third in his B-Main, but that was one mere spot away from a transfer
position into the 25-lap sprint. In the nightcap, Dale placed fourth
in his loaded heat race, won his B-Main, and later blasted past
sixteen competitors during the 101-lap 'Eldora Million' to finish
sixth behind only $1,002,022 victor Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden,

the attention turned to the annual running of the 'Dirt Late Model
Dream.' In the preliminary show on Friday evening, Dale placed third

the 25-lap sprint, which was pushed back to Saturday afternoon due
to inclement weather. The Chickamauga, Georgia standout then worked
his way past five cars during the prelim feature to finish fifth
behind only winner Chris Madden, Brian Shirley, Tyler Erb, and Scott
Bloomquist. Later that night, Dale ran fourth in his heat race and
won his B-Main to transfer into the $128,000 to win 'Dirt Late Model
Dream,' which was ultimately postponed by more rain after only fourteen

Memorial' and a $10,052 top prize was up for grabs. Dale McDowell
earned Fast Time honors during the qualifying session before securing
a victory in heat race action. After leading the first 39 circuits
in the 52-lap headliner, Dale wound up finishing in the runner-up

up his third feature win of 2022 in a big way on Saturday evening,
April 2 in the finale of the 'Bristol Dirt Nationals' at the dirt-covered
Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee! Dale posted the fifth
quickest lap in Group A during the qualifying session prior to running
third in his loaded heat race. After starting the 50-lap main event
from the inside of the fifth row, Dale bolted to the front of the
stellar field and blew past leader Ricky Weiss for the point on
the thirtieth circuit. "MacDaddy" then led the remainder
of the distance to pocket the whopping $50,000 paycheck over a top
five that included runner-up Chris Madden, Chris Ferguson, Scott
Bloomquist, and Jimmy Owens!
On Friday night, April 1 at Bristol Motor Speedway,
another $50,000 top prize was up for grabs in round three of the
miniseries that was co-sanctioned by the XR Super Series and the
Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series. Dale suffered mechanical woes
during time trials and did not record an official lap, but he was
able to blast from the back to earn the fourth transfer spot through
his heat race. After rolling off from the inside of the seventh
row in the 50-lapper, Dale steered past six competitors en route
