At Boyd's on Saturday in the $20,000 to win weekend finale, Dale once again won his heat race and later led laps 4-49 of the 50-lap main event. "MacDaddy" Leads Majority of Scorcher; Flat Tire Ruins Run
(September 15, 2022)
A midweek special event lured Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) to the ultra-fast Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Wednesday night, September 14. Dale McDowell stopped the clock second quickest in Group A during the qualifying session prior to securing a popular heat race victory.

After starting third on the grid in the 50-lap headliner, Dale grabbed the point on the nineteenth circuit and led up until he blew out a left rear tire on lap 46. The Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer received attention from his crew and after bolting on a new Hoosier tire, Dale was able to salvage a fifth place performance behind only victor Cory Hedgecock, Michael Chilton, Scott Bloomquist, and Cla Knight. Dale McDowell and his #17m team celebrated in victory lane for the seventh time in 2022 on Friday night, September 9 in a preliminary show during the 52nd Annual 'World 100' at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio! Dale earned Fast Time honors in his group during the qualifying session before placing third in his loaded heat race. During the course of his Twin 25, Dale streaked from his ninth starting spot and drove past leader Josh Rice to lead only the final two circuits. In other action during the long week at the "Big E," Dale drove to a strong sixth place performance on Wednesday evening in the rain-postponed 'Dirt Late Model Dream,' which shelled out a $128,000 paycheck. On Thursday in a $12,000 to win Twin 25 preliminary event for the 'World 100,' Dale unfortunately suffered rear-end problems early in his heat race before climbing to fourth in his B-Main, which narrowly kept him out of his 25-lapper. In Saturday's $55,000 to win 'World 100,' the Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer placed sixth in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and eighth in the 100-lap headliner after rolling off from the inside of the thirteenth row. When Saturday rolled around with a whopping $50,000 first place prize on the line, Dale blasted all the way up to the second spot late in the 100-lap crown jewel headliner before settling for a third place podium effort behind only victor Jonathan Davenport and runner-up Hudson O'Neal! (August 14, 2022)
Next up on the racing calendar for the #17M team was a visit to Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky from August 11-13 for the 40th edition of the 'North/South 100.' A pair of preliminary programs were planned to kick off the action at the Cincinnati-area facility, but a rain-out on Thursday scrapped the first of two $5,000 to win events. On Friday evening, Dale McDowell timed in third fastest in Group B during qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and later moved past four competitors during his 25-lap sprint. At the checkers, Dale was credited for an impressive runner-up performance behind only prelim victor Jonathan Davenport!

A huge standing-room-only crowd was then on hand on Saturday, as all eyes at the historic venue were solely set on who would capture the whopping $75,000 winner's check in the 'North/South 100.' Dale won his heat race in preliminary action and later rolled off from the outside of the second row in the 100-lap crown jewel headliner. At I-80 on Friday evening in preliminary action for the 'Silver Dollar Nationals,' Dale advanced to seventh in his first heat race of the night, while he started and finished second in his final prelim.

By virtue of earning the sixteenth most passing points during preliminary action, the Chickamauga, Georgia ace rolled off from the outside of the eighth row in the $53,000 to win headliner, which was pushed back to Sunday night due to inclement weather. Dale was unfortunately an early retiree in the 80-lap affair and was ultimately paid for a thirtieth place performance. The hectic stretch of racing was then capped off on Monday, July 25 with the 'Hawkeye 50' at Boone, which boasted a $20,000 payday.
