Wet Weekend for Dale
McDowell at Thunderhill and Talladega
(April
21, 2024) Following a rain-out of Thursday's $10,000 to
win World of Outlaws CASE Construction Late Model Series showdown
at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, Tennessee, the #17M team
followed the national tour to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga,
Alabama on April 19-20 for the 'Alabama Gang 100.' Things kicked
off at TST on Friday night with a split-field preliminary program.
Dale McDowell timed in ninth quickest in Group A during qualifying
before passing three cars during the $4,000 to win, 25-lap feature
to land in the sixth finishing position.
On Saturday evening with a $35,000 top prize on the
line in the 'Alabama Gang 100' finale, Dale knocked down the sixth
fastest time in Group A during the qualifying session and later
grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his loaded heat
race. The popular driver known as "MacDaddy' was then scheduled
to roll off from the inside of the ninth row in the 75-lap headliner,
but persistent rain showers swept into the area and postponed the
A-Main until Sunday, September 15. Complete results from the rain-soaked
weekend can be found online by pointing your web browser to www.woolms.com.

McDowell Unfortunately
DQ'd Following North Georgia Win...
(April
14, 2024) On Saturday evening, April 13, Dale McDowell
and Shane McDowell Racing (SMR) appeared to have recorded their
second victory of the young 2024 campaign in the 'Bill and Frank
Ingram Memorial' at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia.
After timing in second quickest in his group during Southern All
Star Dirt Racing Series (SAS) qualifying and winning his heat race,
Dale took the lead on lap fifteen and dominated the remainder of
the 49-lap headliner to apparently pick up the $10,009 first place
prize money. Unfortunately, series officials came to the conclusion
- after much deliberation back and forth - that the #17m team had
exceeded the maximum tire allotment for the evening and Dale was
ultimately stripped of the win by disqualification. Complete results
from the disappointing night at North Georgia Speedway can be found
online at www.sasdirt.com.

unfortunately dropped him to a disappointing twenty-third place
showing. With a $12,000 payday on the line in Sunday's finale, Dale
rebounded by winning his heat race again before finishing fourth
in the 40-lapper behind only victor Mike Marlar, Devin Moran, and

each circuit around the high-banked oval to pocket the $21,000 first

the line Friday at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee. Dale claimed
the $200 bonus for laying down the quickest time in qualifying before
once again winning his heat race in preliminary action. He then
led laps 3-52 of the headliner prior to Brandon Overton slipping
past his #17m heading into turn three on the final circuit. Dale

heat race. While doing so, Dale unfortunately caught the inside
concrete wall and there was too much damage to fix prior to the
start of his B-Main. Therefore, the Chickamauga, Georgia ace was
unable to transfer into the 25-lap main event, which was ultimately
rained-out and pushed back to Wednesday evening.
